This documentary film is based on a true story by David Barmettler, an Army Special Forces Reconaissance Commando in the Vietnam War (1967).

"Recondo Ranger: Vietnam" (aka "Ranger") is an action packed feature length war documentary told from the perspective of a U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beret in an audio tape "letter" to his family for Christmas. His bloody trials and triumphs shared on the tape occurred during the escalating Vietnam War front line conflict throughout 1967. His bravery and kindness are relived as he shares his terrifying and deadly experiences as a Recon Commando operating deep behind enemy lines with his highly trained recon team known as "The Dirty Dozen".

This film was produced and edited during the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine and features the filmmaker's Uncle, who when in his 20's, is thrown into "A young man's war in a green hell". This feature length film runs 84 minutes and uses 53 year old footage from the Vietnam War. The filmmakers future plans include entries in upcoming film festivals during 2020.
